Australian season-to-date production weighted toward SMP and cheese

More skim milk powder (SMP) and cheese has been produced as a percentage of total dairy commodity production in the first two months of the 2014-15 season compared to the same period in 2013-14. But total production in the current season-to-date is down 3%. Only cheese, butter milk powder and butteroil production is above last season.

SMP production has comprised of 31.2% of 2014-15 season-to-date production. Last season, it was 30.2%.

Comparing production in 2014-15 (34,704 tonnes) against 2013-14 (34,825t), SMP production is down 0.3%.

Cheese production has gone from 34.1% of last season's product mix to 37.5% in the current season-to-date.

Comparing production in 2014-15 (41,709t) against 2013-14 (39,313t), cheese production is up 6.1%.

Whole milk powder (WMP) production is tracking 26.2% below last season. The 13,327t produced in the current season-to-date makes up 12.0% of total production. At this point last season, WMP accounted for 15.7% of total production.
