Western Australia in particular had a good year with an increase of 10.1% on the volumes produced in July 2014. Queensland is the only region to have had a decrease in its production, being down by 2.0% on production in July 2014.

Victoria continues to hold the lion’s share of Australian milk production, having produced 6390 million litres in the season to July 2015, or 66% of total Australian production.

Victoria has had a cold start to the milk production season this year, meaning pasture production has been restrained. While pasture production is likely to shoot up over spring, El Nino is likely to result in a dry summer. Last season, Victoria produced the most milk in October.
