Australian milk production up 2.3% in August

Milk production in Australia has expanded by 2.3% for the month of August, according to the latest report from Dairy Australia.

This brings the season-to-date growth to 1.9%. Milk production growth in July reached 1.5% above a year ago.

The 2014-15 Australian dairy season which began in July is forecasted to reach 2% growth in milk production according to Dairy Australia.

Milk production in Tasmania has shown the highest growth rates at 8.9%. Also showing positive growth for the season-to-date are New South Wales (4.1%), Victoria (2.5%) and Western Australia (1.3%) while production in Queensland (-8.4%) and South Australia (-4.6%) has contracted.
