Australia Manufactured Dairy Product Summary – February 2014

Dairy Australia has released the summary of the production of manufactured dairy products for February 2014.

February production of cheese, skim milk powder (SMP), whey and butteroil is down from year ago levels, while whole milk powder (WMP) and butter milk powder (BMP) production is higher. Butter production is mostly unchanged from February 2013. Overall, volumes of manufactured product are down from last season reflecting the lower levels of milk production.

Season to date production for cheese is 11.7% lower than last season. Agrifax cheese prices which track product originating from Oceania has been moving upward. Season to date production of skim milk powder (SMP) is 4.4% lower than last season.

Meanwhile, season to date production for whole milk powder (WMP) is 15% higher than last season. Milk powder prices have maintained relatively high levels over the season to date, but have fallen in the last month.
