Algeria imported US$1.15 billion dairy products in the 6 months to June 2014. When measured over the same period, volumes are down only slightly, however, with a decline of only 1%.

New Zealand exports to Algeria have increased considerably. All dairy products imported by Algeria from New Zealand have increased by 25% month-on-month from June 2014-June 2015. New Zealand shipped more whole milk powder (WMP) to Algeria in July 2015 than it did to China. China is typically New Zealand’s largest importer of WMP.

Milk powder bought by Algeria is usually bought by its government though regular tenders and reconstituted into liquid milk.
