Top Angus R2 steers, 375kg, sold to $3.29/kg, Angus-Friesian, 343kg, $3.16/kg. Friesian bulls were very hot property because numbers are hard to find. Three lines at 373-478kg made $3.25-$3.35/kg. One line of Angus-Friesian heifers, 361kg, sold for $1080, $2.99/kg.
The R1 cattle were dairy-beef and mainly left to local buyers. With feed still short, the market was softer in comparison with the older cattle, though there were highlights. Hereford-Friesian steers, 352kg, made $1070 at $3.03/kg, with a lighter line up to $3.90/kg. Friesian bulls, 234-252kg, earned $795-$815, and the best of the heifers was a small line of Angus-cross, 243kg, at $805, $3.31/kg. Friesian and beef-Friesian autumn-born weaners sold very well. Friesian bulls, 114-152kg, traded at $535-$640, Hereford-Friesian heifers, 88-120kg, $405-$555.
