There was something for everyone in the 180 cattle yarded, and quality lines sold to high demand. R2 Hereford-Friesian steers, 450-475kg, were popular, selling for $2.95-$3.02/kg, while lighter Angus, 320-340kg, earned about $3/kg. Friesian, Friesian-cross and crossbred lines mainly traded at $900-$1150, $2.75-$2.90/kg.

R2 bulls are selling well nationwide and Stratford was no different. Fifteen were offered and at 370-415kg, fetched $2.87-$3.02/kg. A small offering of R2 heifers were also popular. Beef lines, 360-450kg, returned $2.70-$2.77/kg, empty Friesian and Friesian-cross, 335-400kg, $2-$2.30/kg.

The R1 pens lacked quality breeding, and steers sold for $700-$1100, $2.90-$3.35/kg, depending on quality. Friesian bulls, 185-240kg, traded at $590-$740 for $3-$3.25/kg. Heifers were lesser types and made $550-$750 at $2.50-$2.60/kg. The main lines of autumn-born cattle were Hereford-Friesian, with bulls, 115-120kg, trading at $510-$605, heifers, 110kg, $490-$500.

A nice line of Angus cows, run-with-the-bull, sold for $1100, $2.36/kg, with the rest of the cow offering empty dairy and dairy-cross. Top lines weighed 480-530kg and earned $1.90-$2.15/kg, medium types, 410-450kg, $1.70-$1.90/kg.
