Demand from Hawke’s Bay and Manawatu buyers firmed prices at the Dannevirke sheep sale on Thursday, Bjorn Andersen from PGG Wrightson reported

About 2200 store lambs were offered and were mainly good quality lines, with few selling for less than $80. A specially advertised line of cryptorchids topped the sale at $125.50, while medium males mainly traded at $100-$105. The lightest males weren’t small and sold for $95. The top ewe lambs reached $119, medium $93-$94, light $84-$85. One small line of prime lambs was offered and fetched $135.

Four hundred ewes sold on a firm market with most heading to processors in Hawke’s Bay. Heavy ewes returned $90, medium $70-$75, light $64-$68.
