Hereford-Friesian steers, 419-433kg, sold $2.98-$3.01/kg, 455-482kg $2.85-$2.93/kg. Hereford-cross lines earned $2.78-$2.96/kg, Charolais-cross, 433-451kg, $2.83-$2.91/kg.
The R2 heifer market wasn’t as buoyant as the steers, which was unexpected given the good growth and presence of heifer buyers. While one line of Angus, 323kg, sold to $2.85/kg, the better lines mostly returned $2.60-$2.71/kg.
Weaner numbers were on the low side following recent fairs, though a decent yarding of bulls was offered. Friesian, 150-212kg, fetched $500-$640 with the lightest line selling to $4/kg. Hereford-Friesian heifers, 141-210kg, traded at $555-$645.
