The 70 page document outlining HBRIC’s case for the water storage scheme in Central Hawke’s Bay will be presented to the council tomorrow.

HBRIC chairman Andy Pearce and board members will be at the meeting to present the case to the public meeting.

The council has signalled it will hold a special consultative process in May before deciding whether to invest.

The scheme has the potential to supply secure irrigation to 25,000-30,000 hectares of land for farming while improving the water quality and summer flows in the Tukituki River.

If given approval, and once operational, the scheme is expected to create about 2250 new jobs in Hawke’s Bay.
