GreenWood recently built a very large feedpad shelter in Huntly for Paul Scott of Just Do It. Running a large dairy farm in Waikato comes with its challenges and Scott decided with his growing needs he needed a flexible building partner that could customise and build to his requirements.

Scott had specific requirements and while GreenWood was able to tweak areas to improve cost efficiencies, his clear vision made the process seamless. That vision was supported by a robust business case which focused on improving farm productivity and reducing feed wastage.

GreenWood adapted its standard designs to meet the brief.

Scott and Michael Veitch from GreenWood modified the base designs several times to ensure the height, depth, pole position, clearspan areas and bay widths all integrated to achieve maximum design efficiency.

Despite the need to work to a budget, GreenWood also provided suggestions around modifications to the design while not compromising the overall outcome.

The feedpad shelter has markedly improved feed usage and animal welfare and provides flexibility in all types of weather including the cold wind and rain as well as the hot, unrelenting sun.

“The versatility and flexibility of GreenWood makes them a logical choice for us to use,” Scott says.

GreenWood now has the capability to supply hybrid buildings – which have steel rafters fixed to poles – and this offers improved design efficiencies, especially where large clearspans are required.
