Offers are invited for the prime Woodlands property that sits beside State Highway one just 14km from Invercargill. It is made up of several individual blocks that can be bought as a combination or individually.

Dallas Lucas from Southern Wide Real Estate said the Waikiwi silt loam was recognised as one of the best soil types in Southland for dairying and horticulture, with the farm flowing over flat to gently undulating contour.

This season the farm was targeting 495,000kg milksolids, with seven full-time staff employed to manage the day-to-day running of the operation.

The farm can be divided into four blocks with numerous facilities spread between them. A 64-bail rotary dairy sits on one of the blocks and is fitted with De Laval plant, Protrack, automatic drafting and in-dairy feeding that includes a mineral dispenser and molasses. The same block has covered yards converted for calf rearing, a five-bay gable shed, a four-bay lean-to shed, a six double bay calf shed and a concrete silage bunker. Plenty of haysheds, implement sheds and a 12-bay calf shed are scattered around the other blocks, providing ample facilities for dairying and horticulture.

Six bores cater for the dairying and horticulture ventures and the main one at the dairy provides up to 1800 gallons an hour, with five storage tanks each storing between 25,000 and 30,000 litres.

Effluent is collected in a 90-day pond and distributed by K-line through mostly underground piping to most of the farm, with some extensions to be completed on one block. An effluent consent for 1460 cows runs until 2020.

About 20ha of the farm is dedicated to tulips for 2015, while another 31ha has been sown in new permanent pasture, 30ha in kale and 30ha pasture to be direct drilled.

Six homes grace the farm and provide much-needed accommodation for the sizable operation, including an attractive bungalow-style homestead set in established grounds.

The closing date for offers is January 23. For further information contact Lucas on 0274 325 774 or 03 218 2795.
