Tinwald sale March 15

Prime lamb values eased $3 on heavy types while medium and lighter lambs strengthened $5 at Tinwald on Tuesday. The prime ewe market held firm and a light yarding of store lambs had a good sale.

Heavy prime lambs fetched $95-$102, medium $80-$92, light $68-$75. The best of the heavy prime ewes sold at $70-$78, medium $61-$68, light $50-$58.

Good forward store lambs returned $60-$65 medium $54-$59.

The cull cow sale met a solid market with 450 cows and heifers offered. Prices eased in line with the schedule and pressure on killing space. 

Top heavy, 500kg-plus, earned $1.30-$1.35/kg, medium, 450-500kg, $1.27-$1.32/kg, lighter types, less than 450kg,$1.10-$1.25/kg.

Prime heifers, 430kg-plus, reached $2.20/kg, medium, 350-400kg, $1.70-$2/kg, lighter Jersey and Jersey-cross, 300-350kg, $1-$1.50/kg.
