The eagle has landed

After four years in development, TracMap’s Eagle lands at Fieldays this month.
Reading Time: 2 minutes

The small black box, which is bolted into the cab of a tractor, truck or ute, gives farmers and contractors peace of mind their staff are safe and on the way home at the end of the day.

If the vehicle is on too great a tilt, or upside down, or in a collision, Eagle sends out an alert.

“The operator sets it up how they want to so if there is an event, that person, or other people, however many you want, will receive an email or a text alert saying what’s happened and where, what time and to who,” TracMap founding director Colin Brown said.

If there is no cellular network available, Eagle will use a satellite to send the message.

It can also be set up so if a vehicle isn’t where it’s supposed to be by a certain time, an alert is sent.

TracMap is confident Eagle won’t send out false alarm messages.

The company has also developed a pendant which can be activated by the wearer.

“If someone has got out of the vehicle and suffers a stroke or breaks a leg they can push the panic button and it sends a message showing where they are and that they’re in trouble.”

Eagle is easy to use and TracMap will help set it up if needed.

“We think it will report at least 99% of accidents in vehicles it’s installed in.”

Brown said more farmers and contractors were using TracMap because it helped to prevent downtime and mistakes.

“For a farmer you don’t have to stand around waiting for the fert truck to arrive to show the driver what paddocks to do.”

You can set it all up on the system and have the peace of mind that the right area is done with the right amount of fertiliser.

With the new health and safety laws, there was a new emphasis on keeping staff and contractors safe on farm, he said.

“Which is the way it should be. We’re just trying to make it easier for farmers to comply and to keep farm workplaces safe.”

Also launched at Fieldays is a new TracMap add-on module which allows farmers to be notified when a vehicle enters and exits their property.
