Temuka sale October 27

Following the traditional store sale the previous week, dairy-beef cattle were offered at Temuka on Thursday, and sold to expectations.

Older steers were mainly Frieisan-cross, 464-504kg, and went under the hammer at $2.70-$2.78/kg. Angus heifers, 393-417kg, returned $2.88-$2.98/kg. 

Hereford-Friesian dominated the big 1-year section in both the steer and heifer pens. Quality lines were popular, with 275-318kg steers returning $910-$1000, while the top heifers, 313-351kg, made $910-$1045. Lighter steers, 190-230kg, sold for $650-$755, heifers, 222-297kg, $660-$905. Friesian heifers, 254-277kg, earned $660-$710, heavy Friesian bulls $930-$1040, medium $750-$800.
