In November, ESC became the NZ distributor for the ABB product range of low-voltage equipment. ABB joins an increasingly impressive stable of brands being supplied to leading electrical wholesalers. ESC’s brands include ABB, Steinel, Stanilite, Adaptaflex, Ty-Rap, Ever Build, Iroda, Puri and Elmark.
The ABB range of switchgear includes products that can be retrofitted to any motor or pump installation to improve the quality of the power supply and subsequently improve the longevity of critical equipment. ABB equipment is internationally proven and specified in installations where downtime due to failure is an unacceptable outcome.
Add an ABB Softstarter to bring a motor or pump to speed smoothly and shut down progressively.
This kinder treatment of the equipment will keep it running longer, with fewer problems.
Install an ABB Direct-On-Line Starter to protect critical equipment from power fluctuations, spikes and surges. Voltage drops in rural areas can cause critical equipment to stop and spikes can destroy equipment. An ABB On-Line Starter will protect your equipment. All the products ESC supply are guaranteed and tested to meet NZ electrical safety standards.
ESC has a staff of 30. From storeroom to sales and administration, this team have established the reputation of being able to deliver on time and to stand behind their products. ESC runs a paperless warehouse with more 5000 products stored in its 15m2 square foot warehouse.
ESC has a long history of community support. As well as supporting the many charities and fundraising ventures that a lot of businesses often support, ESC has also supported an IHC sheltered workshop, operated within the business, since 1988.
“The IHC team were originally part of sheltered workshops we used. The government of the day were slowly shutting them down and so we took them in-house,” managing director Russell Waterhouse says.
“The IHC team are not a burden, quite the contrary. They are really good to have around, are good workers and each person is an important part of the team. We often get surprised when someone from outside the business makes a comment about us having them on board. The staff with intellectual disabilities also teach us many things about how to interact and appreciate people who may be a little different to us.”
The ESC IHC team are responsible for packaging a range of commodity goods, including wood screws, terminals, cable ties and glands.
By adding ABB products to ESC’s distribution, the company has created a reliable platform for delivery of high-performance electrical switchgear.
