In-calf Friesian and Friesian-cross cows, 374-560kg, dropped 14-24 cpk, trading at $1.40-$1.70/kg. Jersey and Jersey-cross fell further to $1.21-$1.50/kg for in-calf lines, while Ayrshire-cross, 437-530kg, fetched $1.51-$1.60/kg.

Prices continued to soften for empty dairy cows, with $1.42-$1.70/kg for Friesian and Friesian-cross lines, while Jersey and Jersey-cross earned $1-$1.51/kg. Purebred Hereford cows, 440kg, sold for $1.80/kg, with an in-calf line at $1.77/kg.

Empty dairy heifers met limited interest, with Friesian, 300-455kg, topping the section at $1.80-$1.98/kg and other types $1.18-$1.54/kg.

Finished cattle were in very short supply but that matched demand and prices eased. Angus-cross and Simmental steers, 570-690kg, earned $2.66-$2.70/kg, and the best of the heifers were Hereford-Friesian, selling for $2.58/kg.
