The best of the R3 steers sold to $2.78-$2.79/kg, compared with $2.80-$2.85/kg last week. Lighter types made $2.35-$2.36/kg for Angus-cross and Friesian. Hereford-Friesian heifers were of good quality and bucked the easing trend, with 380-455kg firming to $2.53-$2.64/kg.

R2 cattle made up most of the yarding but prices eased. Most lines were beef-cross with dairy influence through many. Forward types, 360-530kg, earned $2.60-$2.80/kg, with lesser types at $2.17-$2.44/kg. Similar market movement in the heifer pens saw forward types, 340-407kg, make $2.60-$2.76/kg, with Charolais-cross taking top honours. Lesser quality lines sold for $2.32-$2.59/kg, and in-calf Angus, 383kg, sold for $940 at $2.45/kg. Bull numbers were limited and Friesian, 354kg, made $2.92/kg, with Hereford-Friesian, 412kg, at $2.72/kg.

Weaner steers all sold for $700 for Hereford-cross, and Red Devon-cross, and bulls, fetched $680.

Prime lamb prices firmed to $88, while store lambs were ram and wether, and sold for $42-$58.
