An ideal starter farm for sale right on the edge of Temuka in South Canterbury has six titles, low-cost irrigation, and good pasture to get started.
Reading Time: < 1 minute

Spread over flat contour with fertile soils and subdivided into 17 paddocks, the farm has good lanes connecting those paddocks with the 16-aside herringbone dairy.

Kurt Snook from Farmlands Real Estate in Timaru said the farm was ideal for a sharemilker to step into farm ownership or it could be added to an existing dairy business. The fertile flat land meant it was suitable for a range of land uses.

"It's a fantastic location right on the town boundary and is there for someone to put their own stamp on it."

The farm owner assists a manager who lives in a home in Temuka, and there is the option to purchase that property too. Also for sale is the 280-cow dairy herd which has a breeding worth of 79/47 and production worth of 103/71. The Friesian and Friesian-cross herd has been producing about 110,000kg milksolids.

Snook said one of the benefits of the farm was a low-cost irrigation system with water near the surface distributed by a centre pivot to 53ha. It has variable rate irrigation installed for further water efficiency and the balance of the farm is covered by gun and K-lines. Effluent is also spread to the paddocks by a Briggs irrigator which is stored in a newly installed 500,000 litre storage tank.

Ample farm buildings cater for machinery and supplements including a four-bay haybarn, two steel four-bay haybarns, and a two-bay lockable shed.

The farm has a deadline sale date of December 3. It can be viewed at www.farmlandsrealestate.co.nz TU10385. For further information contact Snook on 027 256 0449.
