With only four days remaining in Fonterra’s 2012 elections the co-operative’s shareholders are being encouraged to vote.

Returning officer Warwick Lampp says only 15% of votes have been cast so far.

“I would like to encourage shareholders to take this opportunity to exercise their right to vote as soon as possible. At this stage, shareholders should use internet voting to ensure their votes are received before the deadline. Voting papers sent via NZ Post are now at a serious risk of not arriving in time and therefore not being counted,” he said.

“This year we have filmed the director candidates’ presentations at the Director Candidate Roadshow. These can be viewed on Fencepost and they provide those shareholders who were unable to attend the roadshow another tool to make a decision on their preferred candidates.”

Shareholders will elect three directors to the Fonterra board, as well as shareholders councillors in the Hamilton, Morrinsville, Eastern Bay of Plenty, Egmont Plains and Southern Canterbury wards.

The results will be announced on Monday, December 17, the day Fonterra’s annual meeting is being held.
