The market remained very good at Pukekohe on Saturday March 19, despite schedule drops and an easing market.

The pressure is on with a large number of dairy cows and heifers heading to the processors, as well as falling US imported beef prices. The store section was mostly smaller lots of mixed-bred cattle which sold to expected levels.

The best prime steers sold for $1400-$1675, 2-year steers $1250-$1370, light 18-month steers $795-$1020. Weaner steers fetched $360-$395.

Prime heifers earned $1090-$1355, light store 18-month heifers $640-$875, other cross-bred heifers $450-$538, medium weaner heifers $500-$630.

Boner cows sold for $740-$940, bulls $1380-$1710.
