LETTER: Any ideas?

How have the directors and management got it so wrong?
Reading Time: < 1 minute

For 17 years they have been encouraging us to produce more milk.

They have been building cowsheds in China, sending our best progeny to show them how to do it.

They have been setting up factories all around the world to collect local milk for the locals.

They have been paying Australian farmers far more than us so we have to subsidise them.

When it boils down, we are worse off than before Fonterra was formed.

To agree to take milk from any hill country farm just shows that it’s come back to bite us.

Has Fonterra management any ideas on how they can get us out of this mess, having borrowed $9 billion to get us into it?

If the Government lowered the exchange rate it would certainly help.

What can Fonterra advise young farmers who have recently started off?

Perhaps the banks could lower interest rates as 20% over the overdraft limit is far too much.
