About 700 cattle were offered again and prices strengthened on the back of improving demand. 2-year Angus, Hereford-Friesian and Charolais steers sold for $2.85-$2.92/kg, while Friesian lines also sold well at $2.70-$2.75/kg. Hereford-Friesian bulls went under the hammer for $2.84/kg, R2 Angus and Angus-Hereford heifers $2.81-$2.82/kg.

In the 1-year pens Angus and Hereford-cross steers earned $3.48-$3.60/kg, beef-cross, Friesian and Friesian-cross bulls $3.20-$3.30/kg. Lesser lines of bulls fetched $2.80-$2.90/kg. Weaner heifers were mostly Angus, Hereford-Friesian and Charolais, and returned $3.10-$3.35/kg.

A nice line of Hereford-Friesian cows with calves at foot sold for $1370, heavy cull beef cows $1.90-$1.92/kg. Good demand for cull dairy cows firmed prices, with vetted-in-calf and empty Friesians making $1.80-$1.88/kg, medium types $1.70-$1.75/kg, light $1.60-$1.65/kg.
