Everyone pays tax in some form.

Sometimes it’s obvious – like income tax. Sometimes it’s hidden – like tax on petrol.

Tax is a big portion of the total cost of a farmer’s petrol bill, currently running at 72 cents a litre.

What few people know is that farmers are entitled to a refund of that fuel tax, going back two years.

Fuel Tax Back managing director Matt Walsh says there are millions of dollars in refunds going begging.

“As you might expect, the government don’t make it easy to get the tax back” Walsh says. “The average first claim we are seeing is about $3000 so it’s worth looking into.”

Eligible farm vehicles include four-wheel bikes and ATVs.

Fuel Tax Back is a business set up to make it easy for people to get their fuel tax refund.

They handle all the paperwork and work with NZTA to get the maximum possible refund. Registration is free and there are no upfront fees.

They can be contacted on 0508 FUEL TAX/0508 383 5829 or www.FuelTaxBack.co.nz
