R3 steers met strong demand, though prices remained on par. Angus-Hereford, 506-554kg, sold for $2.71-$2.82/kg, beef-Friesian, 547-631kg, $2.71-$2.78/kg.

The demand flowed through to the R3 heifers, where Angus featured at $2.73-$2.78/kg for 550-592kg. R2 Hereford-Friesian steers, 399-465kg, were medium to good condition and earned $2.84-$2.87/kg, while 380kg cracked $3/kg. Heifers largely sold for $2.61-$2.73/kg for beef and dairy-beef lines.

Weaner numbers were high but line sizes were small, and sold to quality and condition. The top beef steers made $600-$812, with Friesian, 164-199kg, fetching $450-$550.  Friesian bulls, 158-226kg, made $515-$750, and heifers largely sold for $500-$675.

Dairy farmers continue to cull from herds and good auction prices bought in both in- calf and empty lines, and in some cases a mix of both. Vetted-in-calf dairy cows, 351-471kg, made $1.60-$1.70/kg, with values similar for empty lines. Beef cows however sold to $1.99-$2.05/kg.
