In the light of the Fonterra milk contamination scare, RD1-owned NZAgbiz initiated the product recall of a small amount of calf milk replacer sold in the North Island.
The product contained traces of the affected whey protein concentrate.
An inventory assessment found the majority of affected product was still in stock, but a small amount had been sold to customers in the North Island, Hamilton-based NZAgbiz general manager Justine Pearce said
"We alerted the Ministry for Primary Industries and, where possible, contacted customers directly."

“As a result we acted immediately to recall this product. We alerted the Ministry for Primary Industries and, where possible, contacted customers directly.
“We also sought and received expert advice, which confirmed that the risk to animal health from consuming the feed was low.”
All product had been accounted for and, while refunds were offered for returned product, most farmers were not interested in returning it, Pearce said.
“They were comfortable with the low level of risk.”
NZAgbiz does not produce products for human consumption.
The recalled products were Ancalf calf milk replacer with batch numbers JX24 X6494 to JX24 X6509 and JX26 X6542 to JX26 X6573 and Brown Bag calf milk replacer with batch numbers IX21-B0974, IX21-B0975, IX21-B0979 and IX21-B0983.
