Romney 3- and 4-year capital stock ewes stood out in the ewe section, with 1715 earning $105-$111. Another 154 Romney 5-year ewes and 419 mixed age made $102. Several other lines made $90-$98.

The cattle sale was dominated by 18-month steers, most traditional-bred. More than 600 were offered, with several lines returning more than $3/kg. Angus, 376-394kg, made $3.13-$3.16/kg.

The entire R3 steer section made $2.83-$2.89/kg.

Bulls sold on a steady market. All bulls made more than $1000, with eight big Hereford bulls earning $1700, $2.81 to top the bull section. Friesians, 360-404kg, made $3.01-$3.03/kg.

The heifer section was steady but subdued. Ten good Hereford-Friesian 18-month heifers sold for $1300, $2.65/kg, and 15 purebred Angus earned $1250, $2.75/kg.

Weaner steers and bulls sold well, though heifers were harder to shift.
