Numbers were about half of the last prime sale at Feilding on Tuesday, with reduced cull cow numbers, which resulted in a firm to lifting market.

Traditional cows were firm, with those 400-500kg mostly fetching $1.83-$2/kg, 570-600kg $2.08-$2.17/kg. Friesians, 495-530kg, made $1.81-$2/kg with a good line, 560kg, $2.05/kg.

A few heifers were generally steady. Herefords, 520kg, fetched top price of $2.67/kg. There was only one medium steer offered and no bulls.

Sheep numbers were also reduced and resulted in a firm market. Top prime lamb price of $150 was paid for 22 shorn Romney ram lambs, followed by some very woolly lambs at $127, and another line at $126.50. Almost 500 forward store lambs were offered and were also firm on the previous Friday’s results at $69-$101.50.

Ewe entries were low and prices were firm to lifting across the board. Good ewes earned $79-90, medium $61-$78.
