About a third of the farm is rolling country with the remainder ranging from rolling to steep. About 100ha in grass has been used for dairy grazing and is carrying 210 dairy heifers, 110 carry-over cows and 60 weaned calves as well as 160 sheep.
Through winter it carried the equivalent of 250 dairy heifers. The entire farm is well-tracked and fenced, including 60ha of deer fencing, with good stock handling facilities and shedding set-up.
Paul Madsen from Harcourts said the farm, which is in an area generally considered a green belt, offers buyers the luxury of farming options and the income streams that come with them.
“Waihi is known for its good, reliable summer rain so it continues to grow grass. The other potential for this farm is adventure tourism because of its proximity to Waihi.
"You have lovely bush areas and views beyond Waihi as well as south to the Kaimai Ranges.
“Then of course you have the 40ha of forestry which are well-managed pines that were planted between 1993 and 1999. The bulk of them could be harvested now and the returns are good at present.”
A feature of the farm is the architecturally-designed schist and cedar five-bedroom home with three bathrooms that was built in 1998 and overlooks Waihi. The farm will be auctioned on April 8.
