Dispenser proves indispensible

When PETA Enterprises started manufacturing an innovative livestock mineral dispenser in 1974, the team had one goal in mind: to give farmers the simplest way of keeping their animals healthy.

That same goal is the driving force behind PETA Enterprises’ latest innovation – the 48 Hour Bead Jet.

“Until now our dispensers have been available as 12-hour or 24-hour units, which have mostly been used in the dairy industry because farmers see their livestock every day,” PETA Enterprises chief executive Peter Philips says.

“Now with the 48 Hour Bead Jet, farmers of a wider variety of livestock can enjoy the ease of using a PETA Dispenser.”

PETA Dispensers are a range of patented water trough dispensers that enable farmers to administer a variety of animal health remedies through drinking water. They can be used to treat a number of animal diseases including bloat, mineral deficiencies  and prevent facial eczema.

The dispensers minimise labour and are highly convenient. A farmer simply calculates the dose for the number of animals in the paddock, drops the dispenser into the trough and over a 48-hour period the minerals or medicine
are dispensed.

This ensures animals are dosed on a per-animal-per-day-basis, which is important for optimal health in livestock.

“The 48 Hour Bead Jet took a lot of development but has huge benefitsfor farmers with drystock, deer, sheep and beef, or other livestock that aren’t seen each day,” Phillips says.

The new 48 Hour Bead Jet dispenser from PETA is available in New Zealand from rural supplies stores and veterinarians.
