GEA FT marketing manager Nicky Bowden said Milfos offered GEA Farm Technologies the ability to meet demand more quickly, and tailor products specifically to pastoral dairying needs.

“The acquisition completes a circle for GEA FT which wants to be able to offer a total solutions strategy for dairying.”

The company’s range already includes Houle effluent equipment and Norbco housing facilities, alongside the WestfaliaSurge milking equipment range.

Milfos exports to over 20 countries and has been developing and building milking equipment for 25 years, now employing 100 staff at its Hamilton plant. Jamie Mikkelson, previously Milfos’ chief executive and co-shareholder, and now GEA FT managing director in NZ, said the companies shared strong common values and innovative spirit.

Both WestfaliaSurge and Milfos products will remain in the market and continue to be supported. GEA FT intends to relocate its head office to the Milfos Hamilton site while the FIL plant and office at Mount Maunganui and depot in Timaru will remain.
