Prime lambs had a very good sale, with heavy lambs lifting $5 to $130-$141, and the rest making $104-$129. Just over 1000 prime ewes was the biggest yarding seen for some time, but the market held. Most were lighter types at $47-$69, with 2-tooths earning $64-$67.

Store lamb numbers were similar to the previous week and included shorn half-bred lambs that sold to strong demand. Few lambs sold for less than $80, with most fetching $80-$106.

The best of the prime steers made $2.91-$3/kg, though one line of very high-yielding cattle sold to $3.15/kg. Two lines of heifers traded at $2.90/kg, but most sold for $2.74-$2.84/kg, dairy types $2.42-$2.53/kg. Heavy cows were firm and averaged $2.01/kg, with medium types earning $1.79-$1.86/kg

A big consignment of R2 heifers had almost all breeds covered, from exotic to traditional to dairy-beef. Keen interest meant Angus made $730-$1020, $2.92-$3.04/kg, Hereford-Friesian, 258-313kg, $800-$960, $3.07-$3.10/kg. Hereford-Friesian steers, 326-346kg, sold off the pace at $2.73-$2.77/kg, but R1 Friesian bulls, 232kg, were right up to market value at $770.
