Awesome Omakau option

Dairy farms either side and plentiful water to set up more pivots point to dairy conversion or dairy grazing for a 537ha farm for sale at Omakau in Central Otago.
Reading Time: < 1 minute

The farm is flat to easy contour 15 minutes from Alexandra and is set up with two centre pivots covering 70ha and long-line sprinklers, with the balance flood irrigated and well suited to centre pivots.

Don Sparks from PGG Wrightson Real Estate in Alexandra said the farm had 11 titles and could be easily split into four blocks ranging from 40ha to 311ha, enabling it to be purchased as one farm or just one or two blocks.

“Most of the blocks have roads on two sides, so there’s really good access and it is ideal for dairy conversion or dairy support.

“It’s got good water quota and has been very well farmed by the same owners for many years who have been breeding and finishing lambs and cattle. It’s a good productive farm.”

Irrigation water is supplied from the Omakau Area Irrigation Company with a quota to irrigate the quality soils throughout the property. Stock water is sourced from a bore that is reticulated to troughs around the farm, plus creeks and races, with separate bores supplying the homes.

The farm has been fertilised with 200kg/ha of super each year, with cropped paddocks receiving 400kg/ha. About 40ha is now sown in turnips and grass crops, with about 2000 tonnes of silage available for purchase.

The main home is a refurbished three-bedroom roughcast house on block A, which also has a woolshed, covered yards and two three-bay implement sheds. Blocks C and D are bare blocks, while block B has a three-bedroom roughcast house, a three-bay haybarn, a three-bay implement shed and a disused woolshed.

Price is by negotiation for the separate blocks or a combination. For further information contact Sparks on 03 440 2387 or 027 435 6499, or Mike Direen on 03 440 2382 or 027 434 00087.
