A world of agriculture on offer

Latrobe City in eastern Victoria, Australia, will host the World Wide Agriculture conference (WWAG) in July, a leading event on the farming and primary producer industry calendar. Latrobe City Council’s mayor, Councillor Michael Rossiter, said the event would attract a large contingent of regional, national and international farmers.

“Agriculture is a great strength in our region. We have local beef, dairy, fruit and vegetable, as well as boutique food production located not just in Latrobe City but in our neighbouring municipalities.

“Having the WWAG convene here is testament to our city’s reputation, not just as a farming region, but as a host for quality regional events,” he said.

The WWAG will be held at Federation University in Churchill from July 20-21 and on July 22 the delegates will tour local regional growers.

Additionally, one of the speakers will host an intensive course on feeding the soil at the Century Inn in Traralgon from July 25-27.

Bruce Hore, WWAG convenor and founder of AgriGanics Ltd, said he’s thrilled to be bringing some of the world’s top scientists and consultants in their field to Latrobe City.

“I guarantee this year’s event will help you to learn more about national and international developments in your industry – even if you think you have reached your potential in your farming operation there is always more we can do to improve.”

Hore said cropping and dairy farmers would benefit from attending the WWAG conference and learning from some of the best in the business.

He said farmers around the world are experiencing the same challenges with lower yields, higher costs, chemical resistance and more extreme weather patterns, all of which affect their results.

After a successful inaugural WWAG conference in Ashburton last year it was exciting to be able to build on the event and grow it by expanding to other centres, Hore said.
