At long last we have a breed society prepared to put their hand up with a guarantee that cows mated with polled bulls will produce polled calves.
It’s long overdue.
About 42 years ago I bought some Friesian heifers that were polled but I wasn’t able to keep them into the next generation.
I’ve always wished that someone would bring these into reality because it’s been an annual and unpleasant job.
Thank you Phil and CRV Ambreed for this development that doesn’t affect the production traits.
I’ve been told recently that farmers are no longer meant to do their own dehorning so the possibility of having a polled, high-producing herd after five or six years of breeding would not only reduce another farm cost but it would be so animal-friendly and sensible.
