Quality R2 steers met strong demand, with Hereford-cross, and Angus-Hereford, making $2.90-$3.01/kg, while a small line of Angus sold to $1230, $3.15/kg. Hereford-Friesian also featured in good numbers, with most selling for $2.70-$2.77/kg, Friesian $2.49-$2.57/kg.

More than 300 R2 heifers was a big ask to sell, but demand for top-quality Angus was high, with these making $920-$1360 at $2.80-$2.88/kg. There was a good yarding of Hereford-Friesian, and most made $2.58-$2.70/kg. Friesian sold for $2.02-$2.11/kg, Jersey-cross $1.39-$1.62/kg.

The weaner pens were very full with more than 300 head apiece in the steer and heifer pens. While the better types sold to strong demand, there was very limited interest in off-types. Angus-Hereford steers, 219-235kg, traded at $720-$770, Hereford-Friesian, 159-171kg, $480-$595. Gelvbieh-cross steers, 176-210kg, sold well at $630-$750, while a line of eight Simmental cross, 312kg, topped the section at $1010. Beef heifers sold well enough with Angus-Hereford, 177-218kg, returning $565-$655. Prices dropped for a big offering of Hereford-Friesian, with most making $360-$505. Friesian cross heifers were very buyable at $270-$350, with a number of other lines of off-types at these levels.

Friesian bulls, 166-252kg, sold for $520-$710.
