After the calf sales, some buyers hadn’t filled their orders and turned their attention to store cattle they could buy for lower per-head prices.

R2 cattle made up most of the yarding and Angus and Angus-Hereford steers, 331-360kg, sold for $3.00-$3.17/kg, while eight Charolais-cross earned $1060, $3.29/kg. Friesian steers made $2.37-$2.40/kg, which was above market value.

Traditional heifers were also the pick of the bunch, with Angus and Hereford fetching $2.87-$2.96/kg, Hereford-Friesian $2.74-$2.85/kg. Charolais came out tops, with six returning $1250, $3.01/kg. Friesian-cross sold well for what they were at $2.36-$2.38/kg.
