Store lamb numbers lifted to 6800, but buyers easily absorbed the extra number, with the focus mainly on longer-term lambs to winter. Light to medium ewe and mixed-sex lambs were selling for $68-$86, with the same per-head prices paid for heavier lines. Medium mixed-sex Corriedale fetched $73-$76, lighter Merino $44-$59.

Prime lambs still sold well as some buyers looked to stockpile. Lambs were easily making $80-$117, with a small tail-end at $70-$79.

Ewe prices remained steady with lighter ewes earning $30-$48, medium $50-$69, heavy $71-$77. Older rams returned $35-$68, while two lines of run-with-the-ram Romney-cross ewes sold well at $97-$98.

The biggest offering of heavy prime steers and heifers had a detrimental affect on the market, with prices easing. Most of the steer offering were heavy beef lines and sold over a tight range of $2.70-$2.76/kg, while Friesian and Friesian-cross mainly earned $2.40-$2.50/kg. Heavy beef heifers made $2.60-$2.68/kg, with the next cut at $2.54-$2.58/kg. Friesian, 432-465kg, sold for $2.21-$2.31/kg.

Bigger numbers of cows were just what the buying bench are looking for, with many processors right into their cow kill. Prices were steady to firm for all types, with beef cows mainly earning $1.70-$1.81/kg. Friesian and Friesian-cross sold over a tight range for all weights at $1.37-$1.57/kg, while Jersey and Jersey-cross, 407-424kg, fetched $1.24-$1.34/kg.
