A good crowd of buyers turned up for the sale at Rangiuru on Tuesday, as strong demand continued for all cattle.
Reading Time: < 1 minute

Some nice prime steers made $2.75-$2.85/kg while R3 steers were largely $2.65-$2.75/kg. There were very few R2 steers offered, but a good number of R2 heifers sold well, with $2.65-$2.80/kg common.

There was an assortment of weaners, but quality continued to sell very well. Weaner steers, 120-200kg, sold for $460-$555, Hereford-cross weaner heifers, 162-200kg, $535-$655.

A reduced number of boner cows sold to good demand and were firm to lifting. In-calf Friesians made a premium and earned $1.97-$2.14/kg and a good number of empty boner cows made $1.90-$2.00/kg.

Sheep numbers were small with the bulk of the yarding prime lambs. Good prime lambs fetched up to $122, medium $91. There were no store lambs.

Prime ewes sold for $43-$74 and two lines of run-with-ram ewes returned $114.
