Rain, livestock records fall

Records have tumbled with parts of southeast Australia receiving four times more rain than normal this month.

The improved seasonal conditions have sent prices for livestock soaring. The benchmark Eastern Young Cattle Indicator lifted another 22c/kg in the past week to end trading last Monday at a record 647.5c/kg carcass weight.

Rainfall figures from the Bureau of Meteorology show southern New South Wales received the best falls for the month.
