The market for good quality young stock was also very buoyant, with good weaner steers selling up to $1000. There has been a good tone about the sales of late, with the hope schedules will now improve as processors compete for numbers. The big variable however, will be the unknown number of dairy cows that are still to come out in the next two months.

The best prime steers sold for $1410-$1950 while plainer types made $1100-$1350. Medium to good weaner steers earned $670-$1000 and smaller weaner steers $420-$615.

Quality prime heifers managed $1270-$1540 while other R2 heifers made $900-$1195. Light cross-bred heifers sold for $820-$890. Medium weaner heifers achieved $640-$700 and small weaner heifers $440-$595.

Boner cows sold very well at $990-$1700, and very light boners $520-$665.
