R2 steer numbers were low, which heightened demand, and the mainly beef and beef-cross offering traded at $2.75-$2.83/kg. The R2 bull section had a good following, with Friesian selling for $2.85/kg, beef lines $2.88/kg. A lack of the right buyers for the R2 heifers made this section the hardest sell, and beef-cross and exotic lines eased slightly to $2.55-$2.65/kg.

Demand for R1 cattle was strong, with all lines earning more than $3/kg. Beef and beef-Friesian steers, 220-260kg, sold on a firm market at $3.50-$3.90/kg, with a big yarding of lighter Friesian steers also selling freely at $3.60-$4.40/kg. Straight Hereford and Angus-cross heifers returned $3-$3.20/kg, lighter Hereford-Friesian $3.40/kg.

Cow prices continued to firm. Heavy lines made $2.10-$2.20/kg, medium $1.98-$2/kg, light $1.90/kg.
