Dannevirke sales August 23, 25

A small offering of sheep sold to strong competition at Dannevirke on Thursday, as demand outstripped supply.

Store lamb prices lifted with heavy lines making $117-$126, medium $109-$114. The only other section of significance was the prime ewes and prices also lifted. Heavy ewes made $78-$82, medium $57-$75, light $52.

The second round of calf sales were well-attended again and the market was very competitive. At Mangatainoka on Tuesday top Friesian bulls made $170-$210, medium $130-$160. Hereford bulls sold for $200-$300, heifers $150-$200. In a small yarding at Dannevirke, 14 Friesian bulls made $100-$122, three Hereford-cross $165-$175.
