Dannevirke finishing

About three quarters of a 496-hectare breeding and finishing farm for sale southeast of Dannevirke is easy rolling country with plenty of ground to cultivate.

The farm, Hone Wi, is in the renowned farming area of Mangatuna where its retiring vendors have farmed since 1976. They have traditionally run breeding ewes and breeding cows along with their replacements. Surplus stock is mainly finished, with some sold as stores.

Ian Ross from PGG Wrightson Real Estate said the contour made Hone Wi a very appealing farm, along with predominantly good soils and plenty of subdivision.

“It has been well looked after and all the fences are well maintained – it’s got about 80 paddocks as well as holding paddocks.

“The contour is very appealing with the rolling country at the front of the farm and rising steeper at the back.”

An estimated 465ha is effective grazing land that has good pasture with some shelter plantings. Another 30ha is planted in pines and will be milled by the vendor.

The farm is split into two blocks and has good farm tracks along with the Mangatuna Rd providing convenient access between the two titles. On one block, water is pumped from a dam to troughs, while streams, dams and troughs cater for the other block.

The home block has a four-stand woolshed and small implement shed while the other block has a three-stand woolshed, hayshed for 1000 conventional bales and a utility shed which are all in good order.

A good four-bedroom home with two bathrooms is set in extensive sheltered grounds.

The farm is being sold by private treaty, closing November 30. To view the farm visit www.pggwre.co.nz ID FDG24713
