Australian exports up 10%

Dairy Australia reports that Australia’s exports of dairy commodity products for the season-to-date have grown on the same period last year. Exports have grown by 10% in volume terms and 9.6% in value terms (measured in A$).

Exports for the 2015-16 season so far (July-August) were 111,068t, at a value of A$411 million. Milk (27,705t) and skim milk powder (24,809t) made up the largest proportions of exports. Skim milk powder has grown by 34.7% from that exported in the same period last year. Other cheeses has also grown, with 15,667t (+18.3%) of product exported at a value of A$78.4 million (+17.9%). Whole milk powder grew the most by value (+47.3%) but this increase is less spectacular on a volume basis, growing by just 1118t (+15%).

There were quite a few falls by volume, despite the overall growth. Whey fell by 38.9%, butter 18.4%, butter oil by 13.2% and mixtures by 12.9%.
